Pumps come in all shapes and sizes. They are used as conveniences and in emergency situations, and bring us what we need and remove what we don't want. They are hidden below our streets, in our factories, houses, and throughout our lives, but often garner little attention. Pumps are often overlooked, discarded, and even forgotten. To me, they are useful and fascinating objects that often serve as a recorded history through their patina.

Matt Moyer earned a BFA in Ceramics with a minor in Graphic Design from Illinois State University and later earned an MFA in Ceramics with a minor in Sculpture from the University of Missouri. Serving in many Artist Residencies between schooling. All his work is firmly rooted within traditional craft as it pertains to both art and skilled trades, and all facets of his creative work have a decidedly industrial sensibility. This stems from his blue-collar upbringing in Moline, Illinois.

Pump can be found in front of Cafe Berlin on North 10th Street
