Sparky is a vicious, 6-foot-high, 7-foot-long steel raptor. Houston began construction with Sparky’s head and feet, followed by a reinforced interior frame and steel panels. Sparky has no claws and is safe to touch, but please refrain from climbing on him.

Vince Houston has been creating sculpture from glass and steel for over 40 years. He started doing glassblowing when he was 16 years old. He later attended Columbia College to pursue a degree in Fine Art, and eventually left school to travel with art festivals and outdoor shows demonstrating his glassworks (lampworking). Vince currently focuses on steel sculptures as it gives him the ability to create on a much larger scale.
